Enriches. Conditions. Wealthier. Heredity? Guess Again. Perfectly Separated. True Illusion covers evenly.
In the film, bottles and packaging containing different costmetica are placed as to imitate a cityscape.
The labels are turned away from the camera, a technique used in production design in order to avoid product
placement while still showing the product that feels real in lieu of a fabricated one.
The arrangement undergoes different placements and lighting situations, the real sun hits the model
city, a bright halogen lamp emulates a sundown. The cosmetic buildings move and take on various formations.
Meandering between product video, architectural model and diary the film investigates consumerist
dreams, alluring to skincare and wellness as well as the image of the New York City skyline.

The footage was filmed at night around the area of Kurfüstendamm in Berlin and developed into a negative by
hand. The street became known as luxury shopping street in west-berlin. Its glamour faded away already some
time ago, it has become an almost ghostly but fully functioning site of empty promise. Provinciality hindering
all cosmopolitain aspirations. Various lamps and lights were filmed, first inside an apartment, then the
camera moves out onto said street. Following different light sources, sometimes the camera moves, sometimes
the filmed objects themselves move, while the filmgrain keeps dancing. The rudimentary development process
has left its traces on the material, which emerge in the images like separate storylines.
Nacht am Ku’Damm plays hazily with interior and exterior space, searching for the in-between in the image.

Filmed during a firework show the video investigates the revealing properties of recording, drawing visible what otherwise slips the human eye.
The title refers i.a. to the act of deceiving reality.
